CULTURE & CO-CURRICULARS
CO-CURRICULARS
Co-curricular activities are an integral part of the life of a student at Shri Vyankatesh School. They are much more than mere recreational activities; they provide important directions to a student on his journey to self-discovery. These activities hone the softer skills, the aesthetic senses, design consciousness, sensitivity of feelings, dignity of labour, team work, and link the physical skills to the mind and to the emotion.
The school has a thought-through purpose for running these activities as societies, so that cooperation and mutual respect prevails over selfish conduct.
Since its inception, the students of our school have carved a niche in academics. The outstanding performance of the school is borne out by the merit lists every year and various awards. Shri Vyankatesh Public School stands the tallest in Nimar region as an educational institute with a difference. With a reputation of creating future oriented global youth, who adorn the society with their scholastic achievements and possess an invincible drive to excel in every sphere of life, it has cultivated an environment which provides its’ students intellectual exposure with many avenues to reach their goals successfully and express their creativity and talents. Moreover, the co-curricular activities of today could form the bedrock of career options of tomorrow. This is already evidenced by the number of alumni’s of the school who are engaged in careers in the creative fields or with NGOs.
HOUSE SYSTEM
Like the cells make the fundamental structure of a living body the House system of Shri Vyankatesh School forms the DNA. The 3 Houses follow certain common norms yet each manages to establish and maintain a very special identity of its own. The identity often does not change over years of students and teachers who become part of the House. Thus, creating a bond and memorable experience.
‘House System’ in Shri Vyankatesh School is not just a creative method but a system with a soul of its own. The personality of the Housemaster is usually reflected in everything that a House stands for. The three houses compete and collaborate amongst each other and in the process learn valuable skills. The alumni remain very strongly attached to their Houses all their lives.
ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
The Annual Sports Meet brings to the fore several qualities of human excellence in students. With only a few weeks to perfect their presentations, and with academics and other daily pursuits, students have to make every minute of preparation count. Very quickly, students need to have clarity of their outcomes, work in teams with unity (often with colleagues they have never worked with before), surmount the mental and physical obstacles that may seem impossible, and so on.
Traditional Indian games such as Kho-kho and Kabaddi are celebrated at the annual sports gala. The teachers in charge of the event occasionally also introduce Indian fun games such as Pitthhoo, Gilli Danda, or kite flying.
This process is one of several ways through which the conscious experiment of man-making and character building at SVPS truly succeeds. It prepares SVPS students to navigate the toughest of situations without sacrificing their values. At the same time, it helps build strong inner qualities such as a sense of unity and teamwork, determination, discipline, and hard work.
ART & CRAFT
Through arts and craft, children learn to value and appreciate artifacts and images across cultures and times. Experience in design, art, and crafts enable them to reflect critically on their own work and those by others. They learn to act and think like designers and artists, working intelligently and creatively. They also learn about the preservation of heritage through art. A lot of the information we have now about people that lived millions of years ago came solely from art.
Since most arts and crafts activities consist of moving fingers and hands, they help in developing fine motor skills. Simple actions like holding a paintbrush and coloring with pencils help strengthen muscles and improve their control.
