SPORTS ACTIVITY
OUTDOOR SPORTS
The Annual Sports Meet brings to the fore several qualities of human excellence in students. With only a few weeks to perfect their presentations, and with academics and other daily pursuits, students have to make every minute of preparation count. Very quickly, students need to have clarity of their outcomes, work in teams with unity (often with colleagues they have never worked with before), surmount the mental and physical obstacles that may seem impossible, and so on.
Traditional Indian games such as Kho-kho and Kabaddi are celebrated at the annual sports gala. The teachers in charge of the event occasionally also introduce Indian fun games such as Pitthhoo, Gilli Danda, or kite flying.
This process is one of several ways through which the conscious experiment of man-making and character building at SVPS truly succeeds. It prepares SVPS students to navigate the toughest of situations without sacrificing their values. At the same time, it helps build strong inner qualities such as a sense of unity and teamwork, determination, discipline, and hard work.
INDOOR SPORTS
Sports - Students have to participate in school sports to increase confidence, mental alertness, and self-esteem. Sports are important in schools because it helps to teach various skills to students like leadership, patience, patience, team efforts, and social skills.
Manage Emotions
We know how emotions run high in sports – whether watching a sport or playing it. Channeling negative emotions can be tough for children and a good coach will help them realize how negative emotional stress could hurt their performance. Such wisdom ingrained earlier on in life will help them deal with other life challenges later on.
Discipline
Every sport requires some mental, physical and tactical discipline. Following rules, obeying the coach, practicing restraint, etc. are all forms of discipline children learn through sports. Discipline enables people to reach their full potential and realize their goals – a trait prevalent in all successful people.
INTER HOUSE ACTIVITIES
‘House System’ in Shri Vyankatesh School is not just a creative method but a system with a soul of its own. The personality of the Housemaster is usually reflected in everything that a House stands for. The three houses compete and collaborate amongst each other and in the process learn valuable skills. The alumni remain very strongly attached to their Houses all their lives.
Patience
Practice plays a large role in improving performance in any sport or activity. ‘Practice makes you perfect’ but guess what practice and perfection need? Patience. Athletics teach kids how to keep practicing and be patient in order to see the results.
Perseverance
Just like patience and practice, sports also need perseverance and dedication. There are highs and lows during practice sessions and matches. Kids learn to power through and persevere even during the bad times, thus becoming more resilient.
